Morning Presentation

"An Overview of Political Issues Impacting HR Professionals"
Presented by Keith Scott, President/CEO Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce

Join this dynamic presentation as Keith Scott walks us through:

some current budgetary and economic challenges facing the
state that have the potential to impact HR professionals;
an overview of the 2009 legislative session of the Maryland
General Assembly; and
Employment issues that may arise in the 2010 session.
This presentation will assist human resource professionals place into
context the major political and economic issues facing Maryland businesses.

Keith Scott joined the Baltimore County Chamber staff in March 2007 as Director of Government Relations. He was named President on January 1, 2008. Before that, he was a corporate recruiter for Adecco. He has his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and is a member of multiple organizations, including the Baltimore Jewish Council, and is a board member with the Regional Manufacturing Institute and United Way of Central Maryland.

"Recent Developments and Enforcement Trends at the EEOC"
Presented by Elizabeth Owens Bille, Esq., Associate Counsel, Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)

Join us as and learn about trends in discrimination charges and the agency’s
increased focus on systemic discrimination and discrimination against older
workers, caregivers, and those with disabilities or health issues. Through this
session, participants will also learn what issues are on the EEOC’s “radar
screen” as well as practical tips for dealing with the agency should the EEOC
come knocking on their company’s door.

Elizabeth Owens Bille, Esq. currently serves as in-house counsel for
the Society for Human Resource Management. She also previously worked
at SHRM in its government affairs department, lobbying Congress on
legislation related to genetic discrimination, equal pay issues, paid leave, and
the like.
