Project Engineering position working with UAS New Products and Technologies group to evaluate technologies and/or manage the development new unmanned systems designs for application to Governmental developmental programs and Internal Research and Development programs. An initial special assignment will involve technical oversight of emerging hybrid technologies, working with specialized suppliers, materials and developing test programs.

Demonstrated ability to quickly understand new technology over a wide range of disciplines. Demonstrated creativity in engineering, research or other technical pursuits. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to assess technology viability of new and emerging technologies to UAS applications. Ability to assess potential new business opportunities and develop technical alternatives, develop RFI responses and RFP responses (Proposals). Required tool skills: MS Project, Earned Value templates, Microsoft tools suite. Good leadership skills, and analytical skills are required. Presentation skills are important for customer contact and management presentations. Rotary/hybrid aircraft expertise is a plus. Familiarity with the research community is a plus and good research skills are important. Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance.


Required Experience
Masters Degree in Engineering, Physics or related technical discipline required. Minimum 10 years experience in engineering, research or technical activity. Experience preparing Power Point presentations. Familiarity with DARPA and Government Labs is a plus. Project lead experience managing multi-disciplined teams on developmental projects. Understanding of design and cost trade-offs in the following technical areas: propulsion systems, airframe designs, avionics, ground controls, data collection/dissemination, payloads, hardware/software decomposition. Candidate must have demonstrated experience in process tailoring and application, CMMI requirements, Earned Value methodologies, project scheduling basics, good organizational skills, risk management, demonstrated good communication skills and team building skills. Experience with Manufacturing, Engineering and Project Planning.
