AAI is currently looking for systems engineers to serve as project engineers and lead systems engineers on a variety of programs focused on upgrading the Army's Shadow Unmanned Aircraft Vehicle (UAV). The Shadow is a valued military asset and currently averages 10,000 flight hours a month, providing continual air surveillance in combat conditions. Existing programs include: upgrading the data links, payloads, propulsion system and avionics. New enhancements and capabilities are planned for this valuable UAV asset which offers even more exciting career opportunities. As practitioner of systems engineering for the Unmanned Aircraft Systems business unit, will supervise and/or perform systems engineering activities at the subsystem and system level of design on proposals and projects. Systems engineering activities will include: develop system project plans, performing as a cost account manager for systems engineering work packages on small and medium size efforts, leading the preparation of project requirements analysis and systems design documentation reports, and planning and participation in hardware/software integration and test. Test support may include factory and flight line locations. Skills / Requirements
Demonstrated skills include: effective written and oral communications, working in groups, effectively direct others, conduct functional analysis, develop system design descriptions, define concept of operations, and lead medium size (5-10) groups, develop systems design solutions, define system and subsystem architectures, create and maintain interface specifications, develop performance specifications, and write subcontractor statements of work. Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance. Required Experience Bachelors Degree from an accredited school in Engineering, Physics or degree related discipline or equivalent experience. Systems design experience for computer controlled electro-mechanical system. Aviation and/or military equipment development experience desired. Experienced with technologies, integration and test of unmanned systems, aircraft systems and computerized control stations. Experienced with systems engineering principles and tools for defining and controlling complex developments. Experience with design for standards such as Mil-Std-810, Mil-Std-461 and DO-178.
