Flight Crew - Training Developer/Instructor (6365)

Develop and present formal UAS training courses and materials for internal and external customers. Provide initial qualification, refresher, sustainment, and remedial training to UAS flight crew. Conduct training task analysis. Evaluate training methods and recommend changes/improvements to ensure efficient and effective qualification of students.

Participate in site surveys and test activities. Provide technical and operational expertise for training device hardware and software development, testing, and utilization. Document and track student progress and equipment status. Perform as a Subject Matter Expert for operator related issues. Interface with hardware, software, and human systems integration engineering personnel to support and enhance product improvement processes.

Assist in the preparation of technical, cost, and schedule estimates and proposals. Prepare plans for accomplishing training/publications tasks. Coordinate quality control activities to assure the accuracy and adequacy of each training product including in-process/final review, editing for compliance with all applicable specifications and standards, validation and change verification. Participate in review conferences with customers.

Practice ISO 9001 and Total Quality principles and concepts. Must be able to gain qualification/certification to perform the duties of an AO/PO instructor, including simulation, flight, ground equipment operator setup/maintenance and logs and records.

This position will require frequent and prolonged travel to flight test and training locations to include CONUS and OCONUS sites.

Skills / Requirements

Must be able to safely, effectively, and independently perfom the duties of an AVO/IO without supervision, including flight, ground equipment operator setup/maintenance and logs and records. Ability to coordinate flight schedules, airspace, resources, frequency management, and other aspects of flight operations. Basic computer skills are required. Must communicate effectively with internal and external customers both verbally and in writing, and possess strong leadership skills.

Ability to work well with others and maintain a close liaison with customer and team personnel. Willingness and ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments, respond to short notice tasking, and work in a highly dynamic environment. Willingness and ability to work extended hours when required and to travel domestic and international.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance.


Required Experience
Must be qualified or able to obtain qualification on one or more UAS platforms/system for both operator and instructor positions. Associates or Bachelor's degree in a technical field and/or training and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position. Military and/or FAA flight training and certification is highly desired, including ground school, private/commercial pilot license, instrument rating, and flight instructor. Prior experience as an Army TRADOC/DES UAS Instructor/Standardization Operator is highly desired. FAA licenses or certificates such as private pilot, commercial pilot, instrument rating, CFI, CFI-I are highly desired.
