The purpose of a Histotechnologist is to assist in accession and properly process surgical specimens to preserve the tissue morphology and cell structure. The Histotechnologist prepares quality and representative tissue section on a glass slide for microscopical evaluation and to perform special stains or any special immunohistochemical procedures needed for diagnostic purpose. May act as supervisor designate in the absence of the section manager. The Histotechnologist must possess a Baccalaureate degree and either one year of experience or successful completion of a NAACLS accredited histotechnology program. One (1) year experience in Histology preferred. ASCP certification or eligible. Must be able to perform routine histology technique, frozen section technique, and special stain technique.

The purpose of a Histotechnician is to assist in accession and properly process surgical specimens to preserve the tissue morphology and cell structure. The Histotechnician prepares quality and representative tissue section on a glass slide for microscopical evaluation and to perform special stains or any special immunohistochemical procedures needed for diagnostic purpose. Successful Completion of Histotechnician Program from an accredited NAACLS School; or an Associate Degree and training at a hospital. Two (2) years experience in Histology Laboratory preferred. ASCP certification or eligible. Must be able routine histology technique, frozen section technique and special stain technique.
