The Specimen Processing/Phlebotomy (Lab) Supervisor is responsible for operations oversight of the Specimen Processing/Phlebotomy section within Bayhealth Medical Center ensuring functions run smoothly and efficiently. Formulates goals and/or recommends policy, assigns objectives, and establishes standards of practice within assigned sections. Supervises all employees in assigned section to include scheduling, staffing, training, performance and quality control. Work independently with guidance available from the Medical Director, Administrative Director, Lab Managers, and pathologist.

Must have a Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or Health Sciences. Must have three (3) years of experience as a Medical Technologist and one (1) year supervisory experience such as Charge Technologist or Lead. MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), MT (AMT), or CLS (NCA) or equivalent certification required. Must be competent in all phlebotomy procedures (i.e. blood culture collection, blood bank specimens, etc.). Must have normal color perception. Must show demonstrated commitment to assisting and motivating employees. Must have demonstrated ability to respond to difficult issues quickly, fairly and ethically. Must have outstanding organizational skills. Must show flexibility and ability to adapt to quickly evolving circumstances. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, including the communication of changes, issues and challenges in all directions of the organization.
