Job Description

Cox Communications issearching for a CB Access Transport TechnicianI.  This role is responsible forconfiguring aggregate devices, routers, optical access, and/or DWDM equipmentthat carries video, data, and/or telephony traffic.  Utilizes variousapplications for implementation, service, test and acceptance (Remedy,NetSmart, SAM, Preside, Granite, Procomm Plus, Secure CRT).

 
 

Primary Responsibilities and EssentialFunctions

 
 
  • Prepares,configures, installs and provisions Ethernet and SONET transport equipment forsingle and multiple dwelling business locations that will support complexservices.
  • Inserts access transport equipment into Cox fiber ring and powersup equipment.
  • Performs access transport equipment maintenance support to includechanges, upgrades and migrations, disconnects, decommissions, preparation andconfiguration in support of fulfillment activities.
  • Coordinates equipment pick up with boundary partners.
  • Works with contractors/vendors to ensure equipment is installedand operating properly.
  • Creates, updates and closes Remedy tickets and coordinates withchange control as needed.
  • Coordinates with provisioning to verify/finalize customeracceptance of service, confirming service is working as expected to initiatebilling.
  • Coordinates equipment pick up with boundary partners.
  • Ensures quality of processes, programs and customer satisfaction.
  • Drives company vehicle between office, warehouse and work site;maintains vehicle and other equipment per service requirement and safetyguidelines; operates company vehicle in a safe and courteous manner and inaccordance with all laws and company policies.
  • Complies with all safety procedures and policies.
  • Provisioning
  • Performs end-to-end provisioning of customer circuits as designedin an accompanying work package from engineering.
  • Performs all final circuit provisioning and configuration ofdevice and intermediate cross connects.
  • Identifies and sorts equipment needed for work orders.
  • Configures CPE in warehouse prior to installation at customerpremises.
  • Ensures appropriate iOS upgrade is applied.
  • Performs basic functional testing of equipment to eliminate out ofbox failures.
  • Initiates initial provisioning and basic configuration on IPphones and other standard customer equipment for drop-ship.
  • Labels equipment, terminal ID (TID), circuit tags, cablingrequired for the job, and customer name/address.
  • Packages equipment per work order in preparation for installation.
  • Works with customer on integration of complex circuits such asBGP, EPLAN, EVPLAN, etc.
  • Assists with initial turn-up of CPE equipment.
  • Tests and verifies services in conjunction with the install team.
  • This position may be required to work shifts and/or provide 24/7coverage to meet customer demands. 



Minimum
 
  • High School Diploma, GED or related experience
  • 2 years of experience working with IP, Ethernet, SONET, DWDM,DOCSIS, Video and telephone technologies.  2 years of experiencespecifically in provisioning and troubleshooting layer II & III networksfor commercial customers
  • Demonstratedknowledge of performance testing and test equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills towork effectively with team throughout the organization
  • Valid local State Driver's License and driving record that meetsCox standards
 
Preferred
 
  • AA/AS degree or Technical Certification in related disciplinedesired (Technical Operations)
  • Cisco certification-  CCNA, CCNP
